		Terra Firma – Two Perspectives May 6 – June 30, 2006 A first for the Rothenberg Gallery—an exhibition of fine craft featuring renowned Syracuse ceramicist, David MacDonald and emerging ceramic artist Daphne Verley Pietrafesa. Gallery Director Marianne Dalton deliberately chose to exhibit these two artists together because “these two artists utilize two very different decorative techniques, one carved and the other painted and the dialogue created between the two will give the viewer new insight and appreciation into the world of contemporary ceramic design, and the diverse history from which they both are drawn.”   Retrospective – Sculpture and Collage Art March 4 – April 29, 2006 Syracuse artist, Claire Harootunian begins with the possibilities of the material, whether she is layering fine, delicate papers and fabrics or welding heavy steel and bronze she delights in the creative process. Her joy in creating, no matter the medium, is apparent in all she touches.   Linda Adlestein – Winter Landscapes & Gardens January 7 – February 25, 2006 In celebration of our winter season these handsome selenium-toned photographs capture the stark beauty and contrast that occur when the vegetation dies back and the landscape’s contours, that were once camouflaged, is revealed. New York Times Art Reviewer, Helen A. Harrison describes Adlestein’s portrait of a solitary beech tree, “it’s bare branches silhouetted against a bleached-out sky, dramatically emphasizing the tree’s structure while subtly conveying the almost fleshy texture of its trunk. Its roots extend like fingers into the earth, while its branches suggest a nervous system radiating out to soak up the sun’s energy.”
